Columbus Gets 6-2 Win Against Monongahelas
|
Columbus picked up a win at Huntington Park, bumping off the Pittsburgh Monongahelas, 6-2. Pitcher Manny Garcia was a major reason the Cavaliers emerged victorious. In 6.1 innings, Garcia surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Columbus, at 23-24, holds down 4th place in the Frontier League Heartland.
The Cavaliers got a big at-bat from center fielder Humberto Ventura. For the game, Ventura was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 5th double of the season gave Columbus a 3-2 lead.
Garcia told a Columbus Times reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
