The Pittsburgh Monongahelas trumped the Salt Lake City Missionaries, 13-4, at Forbes Field. Pittsburgh second baseman Bill Allen was terrific. He went 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Pittsburgh has an impressive 37-18 record.

Mario Menendez was 2-5 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Pittsburgh. The 2059 Rookie of the Year Award winner had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Vinny Aguilar. It was his 46th RBI of the season.

"It's a good day to be a fan after a win like that," Allen told the Pittsburgh Daily News.
