Missionaries Rally For Late Win Over Monongahelas
|
Pittsburgh wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Jaden Atchison, falling to the Salt Lake City Missionaries, 4-2. Atchison threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Salt Lake City reliever Pat Odom got the win, raising his record to 4-0. Antonio Salcido was tagged with the loss. Eddie Perron closed it out for his 14th save.
Travis Waymire provided a timely hit. The Salt Lake City left fielder delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the ninth inning to put the Missionaries on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Waymire, "and then get after it again."
With the win over Pittsburgh, the Missionaries improved to 28-29.
