Missionaries Come Up Short at Anchorage, 2-1
In a low-scoring game between the Anchorage Whalers and the Salt Lake City Missionaries, pitcher Isaiah Sims was masterful on the mound. The Anchorage right-hander spearheaded his team's 2-1 win. Sims picked up the win for Anchorage, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 3-8. Mike Watkins, credited with the save, is now 9 for 9 in save opportunities.

Ed Benavides went 1-2 with a walk for Anchorage. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Tim Bird. It was his 11th walk of the season.

Sims told a Anchorage Times reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
