Sluggers Lose By a Run at Wheat City, 2-1

Behind an impressive start by Wayne Thornton, Wheat City beat Sacramento, 2-1. Thornton picked up the win for Wheat City, going 5.2 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 3-3. The third-place Whiskey Jacks have won 4 consecutive games.
Carlos Portales was 1 for 3 for Wheat City. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Justin Gassaway. It was his 23rd RBI of the season.
