Whalers Drop 7-4 Decision
The Pittsburgh Monongahelas trumped the Anchorage Whalers, 7-4, at Grounds. Pittsburgh second baseman Bill Allen was terrific. He was 2-5 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Ottheinrich Lindner was the winner. Over 8 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. The win lifted the Pittsburgh record to 46-26.

With Pittsburgh leading 3-0 in the top of the fifth, Allen hit a fastball from Justin Cox for a grand slam home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Monongahelas ahead, 7-0.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Allen. "And not try to do too much."
