Mavericks Edge Monongahelas, 4-3
|
Ottheinrich Lindner pitched well, but his team, the Pittsburgh Monongahelas, still dropped a 4-3 decision to the Phoenix Mavericks at Chasefield. The win belongs to Billy Cienfuegos in relief. His record improves to 5-0. Ottheinrich Lindner took the loss for Pittsburgh. With the win, the Mavericks hiked their record to 51-24.
Sault Ste. Marie, Canada-born Sam Johnson came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Mavericks trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run single to left to put Phoenix on top.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Pittsburgh skipper Lookie Wookie.
