Pittsburgh starter Andy Ruelas put a stranglehold on the Kansas City offense. The right-hander had complete command of his curveball in leading the Monongahelas to a 5-1 win. The Frontier League Heartland-leading Monongahelas have a record of 51-27.

The Monongahelas got a big at-bat from right fielder Mario Menendez. For the game, Menendez was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 17th double of the season gave Pittsburgh a 1-0 lead.
