Monongahelas Beat Cavaliers, 8-3
|
Pittsburgh Monongahelas starter Ralph Francisco was in fine form against the Columbus Cavaliers at Forbes Field, leading his team to a win, 8-3. In 7.1 innings, Francisco surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 11 and walking 0. He allowed 3 runs. The Monongahelas have an impressive 52-28 record.
The Cavaliers had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Monongahelas going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the three-time All-Star Andy Joice came to the plate. Joice hit a 2-run triple on a first pitch cutter from Columbus hurler Josh Upton. It was Joice's 6th triple of the year.
"I'm proud to wear a Pittsburgh jersey," Francisco told the Pittsburgh Observer. "We played a good game and came out with the win. What more can you ask for?"
