Brawlers Need Extra Innings to Top Defenders, 5-4
|
The Brooklyn Brawlers and San Juan Defenders obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.
The Brooklyn Brawlers weathered a fine game by San Juan third baseman Bobby Rodriguez to upend the Defenders, 5-4, at Bomber's Park. Rodriguez was 2-5 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Brooklyn reliever Bill Park picked up the win to move to 2-4. Aaron Sykes suffered the loss.
The Brawlers procured the win, in large part because of third baseman Jon Rios. In the bottom of the tenth, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.
"It's a thrill to get that kind of win," Rios said.
The Brawlers, at 20-25, sit in 4th place in the Continental League South.
