Tampa got a decent performance from pitcher Steve Miller, but it wasn't enough to beat the Norfolk Vikings. Norfolk won the Freedom Lake contest, 3-0. Miller threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball for the losing team. Ray Abeyta recorded the save, his 10th. The Vikings now have a record of 16-33.

Jesus Mendoza, the 29-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Mendoza contributed a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to put Norfolk up, 2-0.

"We put together a nice win," Mendoza said.
