Bulldogs Turn Back Hamilton, 2-1
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Dallas Bulldogs and the Hamilton Hitters. Dallas won it, 2-1. Dallas starter Steve Stanfield was in command. Stanfield, now 3-8, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. William Allen nailed down his 19th save.
Jonathan Herrington drove in one run for Dallas. The 28-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jose Briggs. It was his 29th RBI of the season.
"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Herrington.
The victory gives Dallas a record of 36-32.
