Menendez Has 20-Game Hitting Streak Sunday, July 17th , 2067 Mario Menendez, right fielder for the Pittsburgh Monongahelas, ran his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20 games with 3 hits in his club's 5-1 victory today over the Anchorage Whalers at Grounds today. "I don't really know why it's even happening," he said with a grin after the game. "So asking me how long I can keep it up is kind of irrelevant. It'll end when it ends." Mario Menendez hit a solo-shot off Moises Mendoza in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, tripled in the 5th, flied out in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th. Looking at his stats this year, Menendez has compiled a .342 batting average, while hitting 1 home run and driving in 32 runs. He has played in 66 games and scored 49 runs. |
