Cavaliers End Menendez's Streak Wednesday, July 27th , 2067 It was a doubly miserable day today for Mario Menendez of the Pittsburgh Monongahelas, as he saw his 27-game hitting streak end and his team lose 7-2 to the Columbus Cavaliers at Forbes Field. The 30-year-old right fielder was held hitless in 4 at-bats by the Cavaliers. "Anyone on a 27-game hitting streak is going to be a tough out," Columbus manager Lookie Wookie said later. "But we had a plan and we were careful about it, and got it done." In 74 games this season Menendez has compiled a .344 batting average with 106 hits and 1 home run. He has also scored 55 times and knocked in 37 runs. |
