Lightning Prevail, 5-4, Over Phoenix
|
The Phoenix Mavericks got a superb performance from shortstop Adam Rice. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Louisville. The Lightning won the game, 5-4. Rice was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Willie Bustos earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 1-4. The save was credited to Jason Walters, his 9th.
Louisville needed the clutch hitting of Greg Chiavetta to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Lightning on top, 5-4. For the game, Chiavetta had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We'll savor this win," Chiavetta told the Louisville Observer, "then get ready for the next game."
The Lightning sport a record of 17-27.
