Lightning Fall Short, 8-7, at Phoenix
The Phoenix Mavericks overcame a fine performance by Louisville designated hitter Mauricio Ochoa to defeat the Lightning, 8-7, at Chasefield. Ochoa was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Earning his 7th save for Phoenix was Matt Harshman. At 22-23, the Mavericks claim third place in the Frontier League West.

Scott Casto went 1-4 with a walk for Phoenix. The 32-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring walk off Moises Gutierrez. It was his 17th walk of the season.

"Good pitching stops good hitting," said Casto. "And vice-versa."
